Introduction

You are performing a play at the Cidital Theater with your classmates and must play the part of Zeus.  To better understand the life and needs of Ancient Greece you have decided to do some research to perform the part perfectly.  You will embark on a journey to learn about the Gods/Goddesses, the basic needs of the people (food, clothing, and homes) and the architecture to begin setting up for costumes and the setting.  Good luck on your play and please inform the schools of your performance as other grade six classes must also learn about Ancient Greece.

Process

You will be organizing your information on a student worksheet then inputting the data in a PowerPoint presentation and presenting it to your class so they can find out the background information you have learned.  You must research information about drama/theater, architecture, basic needs of the people and famous Greek Gods and Goddesses.  You will be working as a group, which will be determined by your teacher.  Remember to include pictures so others have a good idea of what the set and costumes will look like for your play.

Task

The gods and goddesses played an important part in Greek Mythology.  You will be playing the role of Zeus.  Discover what he was like and the role he played in mythology.  Include a minimum of 6 facts about this god so you can play his character.  You will also need to list three other gods or goddesses that were influenced by him.

The setting is important to make the scene realistic.  Find out about the architecture and landscape.  Include four facts.

Homes were different in Greece.  Include six facts to describe what the homes were made of and what the different areas were used for.

Theater was important to the Greeks.  Discover what their plays and theaters were like.  Include five important facts.

Food was part of many ceremonies just like today.  The Greeks ate a variety of different foods.  Get a taste of what it was like to live during this time.  Find out four types of food they enjoyed and some restrictions they had.

The Greeks certainly dressed differently than we do today.  Men and women had different clothing and hair styles and they had to dress according to material available and climate.  Find out four facts about what they wore.
