Introduction

Think of your favorite car. Did you choose a Corvette? Mustang? Ferrari? Now think of your own body. Your body is just like a car. “What?” you might be saying to yourself. “How is my body like a car? I’m not made of steel and glass!”

This is true but, if you think about it, our bodies run best when we take care of them. Just like cars, they perform best when we put in the right fuels (foods), keep them clean, and don’t abuse them.

Task

Imagine that your body is like your favorite car. You will create a brochure that describes what is necessary to keep your body in great condition. Your brochure will have an attractive front cover describing what it is as well as a section on what you eat, maintaining your body with bathing and hair care, as well as your emotional and physical well-being.

Process

1 Required fuels.

-this will be a description of the daily recommended foods and serving sizes for a person your age for each of the food groups.  Don’t forget to include a picture for each.

2. Exterior Care

-here you will describe all the things a person needs to do to look after the outside of their body. For example, bathing, brushing teeth, brushing hair etc. Make a list of these being sure to tell how frequently this care needs to be performed. Explain also why any personal care items should not be shared (ex. toothbrushes)

3. Regular Maintenance

-in this section you should describe how to keep your body physically healthy (ex. 3 kind of exercise with 4 examples, how much, and how often) and

emotionally healthy (ex. give 8 examples of the kinds of things a person needs to keep happy and maintain positive relationships)

4. After completing the first three steps, decide on 3 areas for yourself that you might improve on. List these as your goals for this school year.

Don’t forget to include pictures for each category.
