Introduction

You are in bed and feel a chill on your face but the rest of your body is wrapped in animal hides.  You roll over and notice a flame going.  As you open your eyes and focus you notice that it is very white outside, you are in the Arctic.  You discover a letter and as you read it you realize that you are given the task as a journalist to let other people in Canada know what it is like to live as an Inuit child.  You will not be picked up from the location for a month.

Task

Your stomach starts to grumble and realize that you will not be having the same type of breakfast that you usually have and the home certainly looks different.  You will be interviewing and discovering the life of an Inuit and report back in a brochure or Power point presentation to your class.  Good luck, hope you like fish!!

Process

As you look around your home and go for a walk you realize that live is very different here than in Edmonton.  The clothes you are wearing are very different as well.  You take out your handheld computer and start taking notes about what you need to report on.

Homes- find out the different types of homes and list 3-4 facts for each.

Clothing- List 4-5 facts about the clothing that children and adults wear.

Food- List 6 different food I will be eating.

Climate- What is the temperature there at this time of the year.  Do they have summer and what is the temperature then?  You heard that they go months without sunlight and figure you better find out when that happens.  The Northern lights are spectacular here too.  That would make the darkness exciting.

School- What do they learn at home and school.  Is it different here?

What to Do- What do the people do for fun here?  Do they play games?  Are there any special places to visit?  You will need to answer these questions and quick as you will have to fit in with the others quickly!!

How do people get around here throughout the year?  Do they really use dogsleds?  List all modes of transportation and include pictures.

Cloud Callout: We are fascinating to learn about!!
