Introduction

We will learn amazing and interesting information about simple machines. Machines have made our world an easier place to live in. The assortment of machines we use daily is amazing. From the alarm clock that wakes us, the cars that get us to school or the printing press that prints our papers, vast are the uses of machines.

Task

Students will gather information from web sites and present a Power Point presentation.

 

As a result of completing this project, students will be able to:

 

Match each tool (simple machine) with an appropriate use

Identify the six simple machines

Answer research questions

Create a power point presentation

Explain friction and force

Process

Each student will answer and complete the questionnaire about the six simple machines using web sites and classroom materials.

Create a title page called Simple Machines

Insert a picture of one simple machine

Put your name and grade

 

Slide 2-7 Using the web sites answer the following three questions:

 

1. What are the six simple machines? Describe three facts about each machine and include a picture

2. Provide three uses for each simple machine and include a picture.

 

Slide 8 

Explain friction and force and provide an example.

 

Slide 9 

Complete experiment –Gears 1

Complete the chart from the gear experiment and explain the results of the experiment. Use the web site under resources called experiments.
