You are
walking to school thinking about what subjects you will have today. You remember your teacher saying you will be
learning about sound and getting a first
hand experience of how the inner ear works and how sound travels. You figure it will be another regular science
class until you open the classroom door.
There are roller coaster like rides everywhere and you figure it must be
an amusement park. You climb to the top
of one of the rides and it says:

You
figure it must be fun so you close your eyes and slide along to learn how the
different waves work and what the Amazing ear can do!!!
You
will be collecting information about some different sound waves that you hear
everyday and reporting back to the class using a Power
point presentation. Are sounds
really all that harmful?? What can
we do so we save our ears from harmful noise??
Share
what decibels are and how many are produced by common items used in our
classroom and environment.
Remember
to enjoy the journey as you learn about:

the sounds around you. Using the student
worksheet fill out the table with your results. Do the same in the classroom. Use the table on Decibels to fill in part of
your table. You can also check out
the website on Sounds and decibels to get a “hands-on” experience!!
Copy and paste a labeled
picture of the ear onto the slide.
Explain the steps involved for
you to hear sounds. Use complete
sentences.
